Children take the lead in the tree planting of a section of the Evelpidon Grove

A special tree planting event took place on the afternoon of Monday, May 6, 2025, in a section of the Hope Grove, with children starring in a role that suits them: that of caretakers of urban greenery and hope for tomorrow.

With enthusiasm, girls and boys planted small and larger trees, under the guidance of the environmental organization We4All, sending a resounding message that environmental protection starts early and... with our hands.

The Mayor of Athens participated in the action Harry Doukas, the Deputy Mayor of Prasinos George Angelopoulos and the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Yannis Hadjitheodosiou, who set the example… by taking up the hoe themselves.

🌳 The species planted include cypresses, sycamores, ropes, laurels and other Mediterranean shrubs and trees, while to protect the new plants a irrigation system which will ensure their survival during the summer months.

The Mayor, in his brief statement, called residents to actively participate in such initiatives, pointing out that "every green project acquires value when it has the imprint of society itself." At the same time, pledged that the planting operation at the Evelpidon Grove will continue, with the aim of replenishment of the hundreds of trees lost in the devastating snowfalls of 2022.

The image of children planting with care and enthusiasm is the best legacy for a greener, more sustainable future in our city. And it shows that when the new generation participates, the roots go deeper.
